Commit yourself to walking with Jesus this Holy Week. The services at St John’s will commemorate Jesus’ descent into death before the great miracle of Easter. The crowds’ cheers at Jesus’ triumphal parade into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday turn to jeers and the demand for his blood on Good Friday.

Tuesday, April 11, 2017

7:00 p.m.

This ancient candlelight service commemorates the somber in-between-time of waiting, offering an opportunity to grieve Jesus’ death and sense a glimmer of hope of the resurrection.

During the sacred Triduum (the word comes from the Latin meaning “three days”) we come together to celebrate the heart of our faith – the death, burial and resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ came to show us the meaning and purpose of life. In his own life on earth he revealed to men and women what it is to be fully human as God created us to be. He showed us how to live, how to relate to one another, how to build a relationship with our heavenly Father.
Maundy Thursday
Thursday, April 13, 2017

6:00 p.m. – The Mass of the Last Supper, Foot washing, followed by the Agape Meal. The Agape Meal is offered and served by our Vestry members. Later the Stripping of the Altar will take place. This evening we call to mind what Jesus said and did at the Last Supper. Jesus washed the feet of his disciples and so gave us a clear example of the way in which we are to follow him: in living service to others.  This service includes music from our Youth choir.
