A Community Interfaith Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 8 from 4 to 5:30pm in the Paradise Performing Arts Center. This will be the grand opening event for the PAC since the fire. The lives of those lost in the fire will be celebrated and remembered during a time of prayer, poems, music and moments of silence and reflection. The Chico Interfaith Council invites all those affected by the fire to attend
Following the service, all are invited to enjoy a concert performed by Red Grammer, a Grammy award winning family entertainer. Children are especially encouraged to come. The concert will take place between 6:30pm and 7:30pm.
Airbnb is working to modify rules regarding hosts who have guests staying longer than 1 month so that Camp Fire evacuees can continue in Airbnb homes. Airbnb is donating funds in the form of credits to help with our housing shortage.
Gridley is preparing to welcome new residents to the FEMA mobile housing units soon to be established. Deacons Mary and Dan Boeger from St Timothy’s Episcopal church community reported that preparations are underway at the school district and the hospital as well as in community groups such as Rotary. The homes will not be ready for occupancy til at the earliest late March. Just who will be moving in will not be known until FEMA begins working through the eligibility list and determining applicants continued interest.
The Spiritual and Emotional Wellness (SEW) committee is hosting a dinner on February 5 for pastors and caregivers from the ridge to offer support and a brief time to relax and recharge. A children’s choir will provide entertainment.
